Guanaja Honduras is a tropical jewel extraordinary. A small island, only three to eleven miles, is located in the Bay Islands off the north coast of Honduras. When I was young in the Pacific Northwest, I knew that one day I'd opened my eyes to a sunrise in Guanaja!

So we are here, my husband, our little Maltese dog and me. We got to see the beauty of Central America for our birthday celebrations, only two days apart.

I'm sitting in the living room of our little bungalow on the ocean, just steps from the water. Yesterday I tried to imagine how we were really water, probably under a hundred yards, but here in Guanaja things like that are not so important. What is most important is that I'm sitting on the couch, it is not necessary for the work of art because Mother Nature has provided a stunning show piece! The pure clear waters of the Caribbean Sea are right at my door step.

The sounds and smells are spectacular, too. When gentle waves caress the shore, it brings back childhood memories of going to the beach and listen for hours to the ocean waves Pacific, this for me is a good relaxation. Better than any music I ever heard. The smell of slightly brackish water salt is like a perfume. In the distance I can hear a fishing boat making its way out of work for the day. The roar of diesel engines can be heard long way on the water. For me, it's heaven.

Morning Comes Early here. I suppose, because we are closer to the equator, My days start early here, in fact, the rooster began singing at 4:30 am. The song is a sign that the sky black ink to the dazzling stars will begin to fade and the sky will start to turn soft pastel colors, until the sun shining strongly emerges from the sea start a new day. What do you life?

I know that some thrive on the hustle and bustle of the city. They love the intense stirred, and the noise of the city, the smell of heavy industry, but not me. Give me peace sound of ocean waves, the soft colors of the Caribbean sky, salt air and the camaraderie of good friends. The wonderful images that Mother Nature gives us, that's all I need to feel at one with the world.

A sunrise in Guanaja Honduras is priceless. This is something that only a small number of very privileged people still experience. Flying to Miami and a couple hours later, you'll be in this tropical paradise to see for yourself.

By the way, you know that rooster crows at 4:30 am? I think I'll have a conversation with the bird and perhaps order chicken for dinner tonight!
